Local needs talk
by hoser inone of the elders was missing his service bag and suspected that one of the publishers stole it.
he was determined to root out who did it so he decided to give a local needs part on the ten commandments focusing on you must not steal.. he enlisted the help of a trusted ministerial servant and got him to stand at the back of the kingdom hall during the part.
he told the ms that he would read off the ten commandments and when he got to the one "you must not steal" he would pause longer than usual and see if anyone acted nervous or suspicious.

When did you realize evolution was true?
by Coded Logic in) which person/source first made you reconsider your position on creationism?.
) how long a period of time did it take to fully convince you?.

With the mapping of the DNA I don't know how the WT can explain that we humans share over 95% DNA of a Chimpanzee. -

JW Children - We're normal, and have fun at conventions, etc.
by berrygerry inwas reading a poster's experience with custody, and the info in wts child custody packet.. children are prepped to present themselves as normal, with school friendships, hobbies, activities, etc.
and not to mention that their life-goal is to pioneer.. the school brochure (1983) contains this gem:.
"they [witness families] also travel several times each year to attend larger gatherings called circuit assemblies and district conventions.

All I remember growing up is that anything we would do would not come guilt free, unless it was something the WT approved. I recall my mom having a party for all the dub kids at our home to give us all something to do. The mistake my mom made was having it on Halloween night. Well as soon as this got back to the overseer, my mom got raked over the coals. Even though it wasn't a Halloween party, the overseer made it out as having one. Too this day I don't know why my mom stayed in the cult as long as she did. -

Are we going to see a mass awakening?
by kairos inthe internet is the archive for civilization.. watchtower cannot hide it's history.. are we seeing the beginning of a mass exodus out of her?.

As far as I see the numbers of the dubs are still growing, not as fast as they would like but there i still growth. I have been on this site for 13 years and the pedophile issue was just beginning to hit the fan then. It is going to take time before this scandal starts to effect the WT growth. -

Does everyone here know they are on record with JW's forever?
by runForever inrichard ashe a full-time special servant of the order of jehovah's witnesses testified in the lopez case that every single disfellowshipping and disassociation and other things have all been scanned in 2011 and are and will be on permanent record with jw's forever.
is this legal?
another completely ironic and warped thing is the disfellowshipping form is called the s77 form.

Funny...when I got visited last year in response to a letter of explanation I demanded of the elders, their parting admonishment was, "And don't go to any apostate websites" - which was a complete non sequitur from anything in our (mostly respectful) 15 minute conversation.
If any elder ever said that to me I would do the opposite of anything they say. Anytime anyone says the words don't, shouldn't, can't they are trying to control. I have had enough of this garbage. Like someone else said on here I could really care less of what they think about me.

Oh he had some contact with us.....Mostly my wife. He was giving her ultimatums "If we want to see him then we have to change/convert also".
My wife said "I don't think so".
This is practiced by an organization that claims to love their neighbours.

What person/persons/group is behind the rebranding of Jehovahs Witnesses
by truthseeker inwith the jw rebranding program in full swing, who do you think is behind all this?
i'm not certain the governing body came up with these ideas.
at least not the old guard which died off around 2009.. given the fairly recent articles in the kingdom ministry and watchtower about the dangers of the internet and having the latest gadget, this rebranding effort can't have been in the works for much more than three years.. the makeover is slick...very slick...and very clever.

They sold out. I'd love to observe the reaction of Fred Franz if he rose from the grave and observed the current state of JWdom.
I can still hear his piercing voice saying how the religious harlot, Babylon The Great prostituted herself to the wild beast. What would he think of the new branding? I am pretty sure it wouldn't be happening if he was still alive.

Someone mentioned on another post that they have some PR company now handling their new image. It all makes sense as I do not think any of the GB are bright enough to figure this out. It is all about image, no matter how corrupt the message is. Regardless they can't get away from their history of lies. -

Attacking the elders, can that bring down the cult??
by Crazyguy inthe borg has left out in the cold the victims of child molesters all to save their reputation and have used the elders to do their bidding in these evil works.
they have even made changes to their policies to put more of the responsibility on the elders.
so if the lawyers of these molestation victims which normally go after the money ie the borg were to also aggressively go after these elders in these cases could this not start a ripple effect where by elders find out and start resigning en mass to protect themselves knowing the borg not going to help them?.

A legal firm would not go after the elders but if it is a criminal act than it will be the state that will go after these elders. I think a few of these elders being thrown in jail will discourage more R&F dubs to wanting to be elders. -

No... I wasn't mind controlled
by Zoos inthou shalt not stay at a hotel that is not on the rooming list.
work prevented me from attending our assigned district (regional) convention so i arranged my schedule to attend in a different city/weekend.
i know that's not a problem, brothers and sisters do it all the time.

How ridiculous. Maybe they weren't making enough money off of food service anymore. And if they weren't making money, then no one else was making money off of them either.
It's always about money. "Simplification" just means make do with less.
Don't forget they did try the honour system for a few conventions with all the good dubs. The WT reasoning was to simplify things to make it easier on the R&F dubs to not have to handle money. It was more like the WT didn't want to have to declare this as income, that was the real reason why they quit serving food at the conventions. You know they always have a motive and it is mostly about saving them money. Through it back on the average R&F members to pay for. Anyway the honour system lasted on a few years as they probably were taking a loss on the food service.
